A dog named Bernie may look like he could handle just about anything, but an adorable video from Instagram user @bigcitybernie shows him in a one-sided face-off with a cow — and he is clearly not okay with being the smaller animal in the room. Though he is a big, fluffy Bernese Mountain Dog, the video proves that Bernie still has a limit. And that limit, apparently, is cows.
Dog reacts to seeing a cow in adorable video
The video shows the giant dog sitting in the car, pressed near the window with a serious look on his face as he stares out at what the camera later reveals as a cow. A caption pops up over the video, explaining his fixation.
It says, “Your giant Berner isn’t so sure about things bigger than him,” and then the camera cuts to what has caught his attention: a cow standing behind a fence in a green pasture.
Back inside, Bernie’s reaction builds in stages. He starts with a low growl, and then he breaks into barking. Clearly, he needs everyone to understand that this situation feels wrong. It’s not the cow itself that bothers him, but it is the fact that something out there might be bigger than him.
The video’s caption explains the Bernese Mountain Dog’s reaction: “He’s used to being the biggest floof in the land – guess we’re not getting a cow in our future.”
Viewers in the comments couldn’t get enough of Bernie. One person wrote, “BIG dogs, scared of BIG things,” while another joked that the cow was “taking away his spotlight.” Meanwhile, a third user tried to reassure Bernie through the screen, writing, “Cmon Bernie! That cow will snuggle you up!” Another added, “But it’s a fuzzy cow!!!”
But Bernie is not sure, because he can be the biggest floof in the car and is clearly not ready to share that title with a cow.
