In a video from Instagram user @mochapom, a dog named Mocha Tan simply would not wake up — unless you offer cheese. The Black and Tan Pomeranian in the video is snoozing so deeply that she looks like she just made it back from a long and tiring day at her job. But her owner tries a bold experiment. As such, the on-screen text explains, “Waking my dog up with a piece of cheese.”
Dog surprises owner with reaction to cheese
In the hilarious video, the owner holds the tiny slice of cheese right under the dog’s nose, but to no avail, because there is no response from Mocha. Hence, the owner escalates, narrating the mission with on-screen captions. They write, “trying to send the cheese scent out” and then “intensifying the cheese scent strategy” as they shake the cheese for maximum aroma.
Still, Mocha remains committed to her nap as the owner observes, “she is out of it.” Then there is “one last try,” and like an animated character catching a whiff of their favorite food, Mocha suddenly snaps awake with a sudden jerk.
Now, Mocha attempts “trying to eat it laying on her side,” because she is technically awake now, but her laziness is an obstruction. The captions continue: “she wants it but she’s too lazy,” followed by “realises she has to get up” as she finally gets up, and once she commits, she chews the cheese in a “gentle” manner.
The dog seemed to have surprised the owner, who wrote in the caption, “Waking Mocha up with a piece of cheese ? not how I thought it was going to go ?.”
Viewers were cracking up in the comments. One viewer swore, “Mocha was def having a dream about cheese… then her dreams came true,” while another joked, “Lmfao, someones not a morning person.” For anyone who has ever tried this with their dog, a viewer chimed in with, “I’ve done that! It is hilarious.” And it does seem like nothing can wake the dog in this video except cheese.
