Dogs may have a reputation for being loyal protectors, but they can also be hilariously dramatic for no reason. Sometimes the same pup who charges toward the front door barking at every sound will suddenly freeze at the sight of something as harmless as a vacuum cleaner. Those little contradictions are often what pet parents love most about them. A recent video shared on Instagram showed one dog hilariously reacting after his owner called out his unusual fear online.

The clip, posted by @nautidoggo, shows a Golden Retriever named Nauti. At the start of the video, Nauti appears to be fully embracing his role as the household protector. He can be seen barking and growling loudly at his owner while staring intensely in her direction, giving off what the on-screen text describes as “big security guard energy.” However, according to the text, that confidence disappears the moment a plastic bag appears.
As the video continues, Nauti’s owner calls him over while he continues growling dramatically. She then jokingly exposes him by mentioning his fear of plastic bags out loud. The second she says it, the Retriever lets out another growl, almost as if he is protesting the public revelation.
The funniest part came near the end of the clip, when Nauti stopped barking and simply stared at his owner with a stern expression. His face appeared almost annoyed, as though he was upset she had ruined his tough-dog image.
His owner leaned into the humor in the caption, writing, “He may seem all tough but he’s really just a baby!” That softer side of Nauti quickly connected with viewers, many of whom admitted their own dogs were frightened by everyday household items.
One viewer joked that the dog was “built for intruders, not groceries.” Another playfully wrote, “Don’t mock my fluffy pawlice ma’am.” Others related to the fear itself. “It’s ok Nauti my boy is too!” one person commented. Meanwhile, another defended the dog by saying, “In all fairness plastic bags are really scary.”
